About

Kangari is a Tribal fusion belly dance duet that is based in Athens, GA.  They take their name from a distinctive embroidery motif of the Kutchi Rabari tribe of Gujarat, India.

Traditionally a kangari is a line of triangles that is an essential part of any Rabari embroidery.  The kangari holds the design together, gives it definition and emphasizes the symbols used in the rest of the piece.

A colorful triangle is a recognizable symbol of womanhood to any child who has ever drawn stick figures.

Community is an essential part of dance.  Just like the linked triangles of the kangari, together we create beauty.
